Ground and equipment access
Assess loose stones, sloping walkways and machinery access steps separately. Validate the outsole through workplace trials; step maintenance and safe access remain essential independent measures.
Impact and puncture
Determine the risks of stones and pieces of equipment falling on the foot and the risks of stepping on sharp material. Look in the technical documentation for the required toe cap, sole and instep protection if applicable.
Water, mud and maintenance
Specify duration of exposure to water and possibility of cleaning. Before the shift, check for sole wear, upper tears and foreign objects entering the shoes.
